12 people have been injured two critically so after the taxi they were in rear ended a truck on the M7 Durban Bound near Bellville offramp on Wednesday afternoon around 3:30pm.
Rescue Care Paramedics arrived on the scene after there was an initial scene where a single vehicle overturned. Whilst Paramedics were responding to that scene a secondary collision occurred involving the taxi. Multiple people were injured and immediately more ambulances as well as Advanced Life Support Paramedics were dispatched. Two patients were entrapped in the front seat of the taxi and had sustained critical injuries. The Lenmed1 Aeromedical helicopter was called to assist in rapidly transporting the critically injured passenger to a nearby Hospital for the further care that he required. All of the injured were stabilised on the scene before being transported to a nearby Hospitals for further care.
The M7 was closed whilst emergency personal worked to extricate the to men.
At this stage the events leading up to the collision is unknown however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.
