The 2019 Mass Innovation and Entrepreneurship Week in Jakarta, Indonesia: the Indonesia Venture Capital Forum was successfully held in Landmark Pluit in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The forum was guided by the organizing committee of overseas mass entrepreneurship and innovation week, sponsored by ATM capital, and organized by the English-based technology media platform Volanews. The oversea supporting units consist of OPPO Indonesia, J&T Express, etc.

Nearly a hundred specialists, entrepreneurs, and investors form different fields of industries participated in the forum, raising heated and thorough discussions concerning topics such as: in Indonesia and the whole Southeast Asia, how to promote mutual integration and cooperation of innovation and entrepreneurship resources, and how to promote a rapid and healthy development of the multi-industry economy.

Zhongwei, the co-founder of ATM capital, shared his view during the speech themed “the opportunities and development of Indonesian innovation”, demonstrating that the Internet population of Indonesia ranked NO.3 in Asia and continued to soar in the past 20 years. Meanwhile, in the whole Southeast Asiaten, ten unicorns were born in just couples of years, and the proportion of unicorns ranked NO.4 globally following the United States, China, and the United Kingdom.

Ding Jiale, the founder of Volanews, hosted the first round of discussion themed “The current situation and growing trend of e-commerce in Indonesia and Southeast Asia”, in which the participants included: Indonesian second-hand luxury goods e-commerce Tinkerlust’s CEO Samira Shihab, Indonesian live auction e-commerce WOWBID’s COO Nurmala Soepiter, Indonesian import and export agent platform Andalin’s CEO Rifki Pratormo, and Indonesian version “MANBANG” Kargo’s co-founder Yodiaditya Mukti Wardoyo.

In this round of discussion, the CEO of Tinkerlust Samira, Shihab said, “Despite the fact that the immediate e-commerce in Indonesia are still in the primary stage of development, there are still loads of educational work to do in the market. However, the younger consumer group and the energetic consumptive power of Indonesia still enable the local e-commerce to utilize the cultural advantages to establish a stronger relationship of trust.” The Andalin CEO Rifki Pratormo also said that recently the rise of Indonesian e-commerce had boost the innovation and development of logistics industry to a great extent, which also contributed a lot to the growth of the new import and export agent platform like Andalin and promoted the efficiency of the whole industrial chain.

Zhong Wei, the co-founder of ATM capital, hosted the second round of discussion themed “the innovation and localization of fintech industry in Southeast Asia”, in which the participants included: the Indonesian insurance technology company Lifepal’s co-founder Giacomo Ficari, Tangbull’s co-founder Liu Xiaorong刘小蓉, and Indonesian mobile payment platform AHDI(PT Alto Halo Digital International)’s CBO Ardheta Natalegawa.

In this round of discussion, Lifepal’s co-founder Giacomo Ficari said, “The inspiration of the Chinese fintech industry shows us that start-ups must take the lead in science-technology and business innovation, and promote the introduction of relevant regulations and policies.” The CBO of AHDI Ardheta Natalegawa considered that, as the partner of WeChat Pay and Alipay in Indonesia, the missions of AHDI are not limited to assisting one or two of the third-party payment platforms to achieved landing, but also assisting the global payment tools to achieve payment landing in Indonesia, in order to promote the arrival of the cash-free society both online and offline.

The theme of the third round was “the insight of the growing trend of the investment ecology in Southeast Asia”, and the participants included: the Indonesian game developer Indofun’s VP Felix Valentinus, coffee auto-vending store Jumpstart’s co-founder Roni Ang, and Indonesian version “Framework Media Recruitment” LiftyMedia’s CEO Wu Xinghan.

The mentioning round table guests all considered that, comparing with the whole Southeast Asia, Indonesia is a nation with a relatively low cost for start-ups. However, the lack of specialists, especially of high skill domain, determines that the construction and development of teams has become the primary task for Indonesian start-ups. Recently, the attention of early capitals towards Indonesian start-ups are getting increasingly high, providing the initial motivation for Indonesian start-ups, yet only with the participation of large capitals which focus on growing enterprises can the future of a rapid and long-lasting development be ensured. Meanwhile, the presented guests also expressed that when the coming Indonesian enterprises go abroad to expand and face the entire Southeast Asia and even the entire world, their demand for talents will become stronger and more urgent .

After the event, the presented specialists, entrepreneurs, sponsors, and organisers had an extensive discussion, and all the participants have benefited from the event, expressing the desire for the further cooperation between ATM Capital and Volanews.
