After the fall in fuel prices during June, motorists may get a further bonus on 5 July.

The Department of Energy predicts a reduction of 60 cents and 59 cents respectively for gasoline and diesel.

The strengthening of the Rand during the first part of June and the reduction in oil prices are the current motives to make the reduction possible.

However, a threat that started to appear on the horizon was that the Rand suddenly fell drastically in value after the Public Protector recommended that the country’s Constitution is amended to change the Reserve Bank’s objectives.
