Standard and Poor’s once again downgraded South Africa, while Moody’s has temporarily placed its rating on review. Fitch has kept the grade of junk status unchanged.
The Chamber of Commerce Commerce believes the downgrades can be attributed to the two recent cabinet reshuffles, the state’s support for nuclear power and certain government’s reckless statements about free basic education and the funding of the national health insurance plan.
