{"id":6721,"date":"2016-08-26T15:12:51","date_gmt":"2016-08-26T13:12:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/southafricatoday.net\/africa-news\/?p=6721"},"modified":"2016-08-26T15:12:51","modified_gmt":"2016-08-26T13:12:51","slug":"botswana-threatens-to-prosecute-and-deport-sa-tour-operators-over-k-word-insults","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southafricatoday.net\/africa-news\/southern-africa\/botswana\/botswana-threatens-to-prosecute-and-deport-sa-tour-operators-over-k-word-insults\/","title":{"rendered":"Botswana threatens to prosecute and deport SA tour operators over &#8216;k-word&#8217; insults"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Botswana government has warned South African tourism industry operators who have been accused of routinely calling locals \u201ck****rs\u201d that they will be charged with crimen injuria and deported soon after prosecution if they continued \u201cdegrading and impairing\u201d the dignity of the Botswana.<\/p>\n<p>Addressing tourism workers in the tourism capital of Maun in the north of the country, Labour and Home Affairs minister Edwin Batshu said as crimen injuria was a crime back home in South Africa, offenders should not expect to get away with it in Botswana.<\/p>\n<p>The k-word is a derogatory term used to describe black people.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have received several reports from Batswana workers in the tourism sector in the Okavango Delta area who are routinely called k****rs and referred to in other f-words by their employers.
