It is the first time that the EU provides financial support to the Southern African country, since the sanctions imposed upon the country in 2002.<\/p>\n<p>The sanctions were eased slowly, although the assets freeze and a travel ban on President Mugabe and his wife are still in force. Since the introduction of sanctions, the EU has avoided the Zimbabwean government and the financial assistance is limited to charities in the country.<\/p>\n<p>EU donation will be used to improve economic development, health, government and institution building in the country.
