Maputo \u2014 Mozambique’s public debt with China will be restructured following the signing of a Supplementary Framework Agreement between the governments’ of both countries.<\/p>\n
The agreement follows meetings held in China last April between Mozambican President Daniel Chapo and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping, in which China granted a partial forgiveness of Mozambique’s debt, amounting to 204 million yuan (1.9 billion meticais) in interest-free loans that were set to mature in December 2024.<\/p>\n
