The Congolese Rugby Federation (https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/FECORUGBY) has decided to launch an innovative experience to attract players to the sport as an extension of the Get into Rugby scheme, which has already seen success in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, especially in Kinshasa.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The initiative is called Foot-Rugby, which combines football training (for one hour) with one hour of rugby. The same team gets together to play their usual sport and to try out rugby. In the end, the players who find that they have a skill for rugby will be sure to stick with rugby and other players will be able to carry on with their original sport.<\/p>\n
FECORUGBY has already signed up 123 young people aged between 5 and 16 for the first week.<\/p>\n
This experience will be followed by Basket-Rugby, Volleyball-Rugby, Handball and athletics at the legendary Tata Raphaël stadium, the home of FECORUGBY, right in the middle of Kinshasa.<\/p>\n
The Federation is expecting the number of players to increase, especially during the school summer holidays, which are just around the corner.<\/p>\n
The sports centre will officially open its doors between 2 July and 4 September 2018, the school holiday period in the DRC.<\/p>\n
