No input from Africans has been acknowledged.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-body-text\" data-para-word-count=\"85\">As a professor of African and Atlantic history, I challenge this notion in a book titled <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cambridge.org\/core\/books\/lourenco-da-silva-mendonca-and-the-black-atlantic-abolitionist-movement-in-the-seventeenth-century\/B030B16D932D0C6A971FAC1BF9A19F5C\" rel=\"noopener\">Louren\u00e7o da Silva Mendon\u00e7a and the Black Atlantic Abolitionist Movement in the Seventeenth Century<\/a>. The book is based on new material found in Portuguese, Spanish and Vatican archives.
