The European Investment Bank (https:\/\/www.EIB.org<\/a>) will join the United Nations (UN) 5th<\/sup> Conference for Least Developed Countries (LDC5), taking place from the 5th<\/sup> to the 9th<\/sup> of March in Doha, Qatar.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n The EIB will be represented by its Vice-President Thomas \u00d6stros, who will open the Private Sector Forum (https:\/\/apo-opa.info\/3SIvcUu<\/a>) and participate in the discussions on structural transformation (https:\/\/apo-opa.info\/3ZA9uV4<\/a>). The Bank will co-host the High-Level Roundtable on \u201cInvesting in People\u2019s Health through Global Gateway\u201d (https:\/\/apo-opa.info\/3EOVD52<\/a>) together with the European Commission\u2019s Directorate-General for International Partnerships.<\/p>\n EIB Global, the new development arm of the EIB Group, will also announce, alongside its partners, support for private sector development and for transformative projects in Least Developed Countries, including in Gambia and Guinea-Bissau, in the green energy, transport, and water sectors, that will contribute to the EU\u2019s Global Gateway strategy designed to mobilise around \u20ac300 billion for sustainable investment around the world.<\/p>\n Ahead of the conference, EIB Vice-President Thomas \u00d6stros<\/strong> said: \u201cThe current multiple crisis and conflicts happening in different parts of the world cannot deviate us from delivering the UN Sustainable Development Goals and accompanying the prosperity and resilience of Least Developed Countries. This side event will look at ways to increase access to health-care services, essential medicines, diagnostics, vaccines, and other health technologies, notably through new international partnerships as part of the Global Gateway, including with the World Health Organisation.
