{"id":11465,"date":"2017-08-04T09:05:55","date_gmt":"2017-08-04T07:05:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southafricatoday.net\/africa-news\/?p=11465"},"modified":"2017-08-04T09:05:55","modified_gmt":"2017-08-04T07:05:55","slug":"fit-mugabe-can-go-on-till-2023-zanu-pf-youth-league","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southafricatoday.net\/africa-news\/southern-africa\/zimbabwe\/fit-mugabe-can-go-on-till-2023-zanu-pf-youth-league\/","title":{"rendered":"Fit Mugabe can go on till 2023: Zanu PF Youth League"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>President Robert Mugabe is still \u201cphysically and mentally fit\u201d that he can still go on as Zimbabwe\u2019s leader until 2023, the Zanu PF Youth League has said.<\/p>\n<p>The ruling party\u2019s youth wing\u2019s secretary Kudzanayi Chipanga said this while addressing journalists in Harare Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>He said while they accepted and supported First Lady Grace Mugabe\u2019s call on her husband to name his successor as a wing they were not going to \u201cstampede his Excellency\u201d into doing so.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe (Mugabe) can even go up to 2023, but when he then feels that he needs to step down due to various reasons, yes we have given him that leverage as the party to guide the party when it comes to choosing his own successor..,\u201d said Chipanga.<\/p>\n<p>He claimed that there were no signs that Mugabe was already incapacitated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur president is still strong as you can see him addressing his party supporters for more than an hour when a need arises. He is still fit to execute his duties. Mentally and physically he is switched on,\u201d said Chipanga.<\/p>\n<p>He went on, \u201cCome 2018 elections we have a candidate and he is President Robert Mugabe.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chipamga\u2019s claims come as Mugabe is often seen asleep as soon as he sat down during public meetings.
