Zimbabwe one of ‘problem states violating human rights’

Zimbabwe, the incoming chair of the 15-nation Southern African Development Community (Sadc), is among one-third of the group’s governments whose human rights records are causing serious concern, three rights organisations said on Thursday.

Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights raised the alarm at a joint news conference in Harare ahead of the Sadc’s annual summit, to be held in Victoria Falls on August 17 and 18.
