Zimbabwe elephant cyanide poisoning cases in Zambezi

Zimbabwe – Four elephants have died from fresh cyanide poisoning in the Zambezi National Park raising fears that more wild animals could be killed by poachers using the deadly chemical.

Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority rangers who were on patrol discovered the dead jumbos in the park just outside Victoria Falls along the Zambezi River earlier this week, an official confirmed.

Zimparks public relations manager, Caroline Washaya-Moyo, said the death of the animals comes as a shock, a year after a similar incident that left more than 100 elephants dead in the Hwange National Park.
