Zimbabwe assures EU, No more farms grabs

Cape Town –Zimbabwe has reportedly assured the European Union that the country won’t engage in farms grabs anymore.

This comes as the country strives to lure foreign investment to revive an ailing economy.

According to New Zimbabwe.com, Environment Minister Saviour Kasukuwere said no more farms or properties owned by westerners would be grabbed.

At least 4 000 white commercial farmers were evicted from their farms when President Robert Mugabe’s government embarked on a violent and controversial land redistribution programme in 2000.

Since then, agricultural production decreased dramatically and food shortages have continued to plague the country.

The country has also continued to reel under an economic meltdown with investors shunning it amid concerns the southern African nation is a “risky business destination”…
