Zambia need help from co-operating partners

Secretary to Treasury Fredson Yamba said there is need for effective dialogue to avoid misconceptions on the state of the economy.

“While Government has resolved to deal with challenges and progress has been made to this effect, having just concluded deliberations with the International Monetary Fund mission (IMF) two weeks ago, I wish to reassure you that we had constructive discussions and agreements with IMF. We both reaffirmed that our economic outlook remain positive,” he said.
Mr Yamba was speaking at the 2014 poverty reduction budget support (PRBS) review meeting in Lusaka yesterday.

He, however, said Government is aware of challenges of sustaining the outcome in the medium and long-term.

Meanwhile, Zambia’s co-operating partners say prospects for high rates of economic growth in the country remain positive.
