Nujoma and genocide statues fenced-off

A MISCOMMUNICATION between the Ministry of Youth, National Service, Sports and Culture and the National Museum of Namibia saw the statue of the former president and that of the genocide memorial statues briefly fenced off.

Ester Moombola-//Goagoses, who is the head of the museum, told The Namibian yesterday that the fence had to be removed in the afternoon after she had intervened.

“Those who saw the statues in the morning when they were fully fenced in will see that they are not like that now,” she said after the fence had been removed.

The statues were unveiled in March in front of the museum that was established to serve as a central repository for materials, and memorabilia related to Namibia’s anti-colonial resistance as well as the armed struggle…
