Mozambique: Chapo Proclaimed President of Mozambique

Maputo — The Constitutional Council, Mozambique’s highest body in matters of constitutional and electoral law on Monday proclaimed the candidate of the ruling Frelimo Party, Daniel Chapo, as the winner of the presidential election held on 9 October, and hence as the country’s next President.

He is likely to be sworn into office in mid-January, at the end of the term of the current President, Filipe Nyusi.
