Lesotho Police vet Satanist recruits

Maseru – A announcement that the Lesotho Mounted Police Services (LMPS) would not consider devotees of Satanist beliefs for recruitment into the institution has sparked fierce public debate.

Police have in the past linked or attributed some serious crimes, including murder, around the country to Satanism.

Last month the LMPS invited applications from Lesotho nationals who have completed the Cambridge Overseas School Certificate to submit applications for admission into the service, ahead of intensive training at the Police Training College (PTC); but the invitation specifically prohibited anyone holding a belief in Satanism from applying.

This requirement is likely to dent chances of admission of new recruits for enrolment at the PTC.
