Tunisia – Why Bensedrine Is in Jail

Sihem Bensedrine, the former president of Tunisia’s Truth and Dignity Commission between 2014 and 2018, has been in pre-trial detention since 1 August 2024. Her lawyers have been fighting for her release ever since, denouncing “a judicial cabal with the sole objective to bury Tunisian transitional justice”.
