Dropping of a lawsuit may finally free Sudanese Christian woman

There’s renewed hope Thursday that Meriam Ibrahim, 27, sentenced to death in Sudan for marrying a Christian and later freed from prison by an appeals court, will be allowed to travel to the United States with her American husband.

On Wednesday, a lawsuit brought by her Sudanese father to establish her as both a Muslim and his daughter, was dropped, according to Reuters. If successful, it might have blocked her departure.
