Kenya: World Standards Day marked globally under theme of 'Protecting the World with Standards'

World Standards Day is marked every year on October 14. The day is used to honour experts within various standards development organizations worldwide. This year, the day recognizes the role of standards in supporting environmental conservation by reducing the impact of industrial production, facilitating reuse of limited resources and improving energy efficiency. In Kenya, the day was marked on various online platforms due to coronavirus restrictions on public gatherings.

Retired Lieutenant Colonel Bernard Njiraini is the Managing Director of the Kenya Bureau of Standards and spoke to CGTN online from Nairobi.
