Kenya: Court Orders Carrefour to Refund Supplier Amid Abuse of Buyer Power

Nairobi — The Competition Authority of Kenya (CAK) has welcomed the High Court’s ruling in a case against Majid Al Futtaim hypermarkets operating under the brand name Carrefour, where the supermarket chain was found guilty of abusing its buyer power against one of its former suppliers, Orchards Limited.

The judgment, delivered by Justice Anne Ong’injo, directs Carrefour to refund Sh289,482 in deducted rebates to Orchards Limited.
