An affiliate organisation of the Namibia Non-Governmental Organisation Forum Trust (Nangof Trust) has petitioned the European Union (EU) headquarters to stop funding the organisation until it accounts for misused money.
The appeal was accompanied by confidential emails, minutes of meetings, financial statements and other documents sent to the EU office in Brussels by a Nangof affiliate last month.
One email called for the resignation of Nangof CEO Ivin Lombardt amidst allegations of maladministration and a lack of transparency and accountability.
However, Lombardt was not moved by the email, saying it is a “rehashed complaint” from a person known to Nangof.
According to the complainant the EU Delegation to Namibia has been overlooking these complaints by calling them mere “allegations”.
