Egypt parties condemn Israel attack on Gaza

Cairo – A number of Egyptian political parties have condemned the Israeli aggression on Gaza, urging President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to order the permanent opening of the Rafah border.

At least 100 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli airstrikes on Palestinian territories controlled by the Islamist Hamas government whose militants are also firing rockets into Israel.

Al Dostour Party, the Karama Party, the Popular Socialist Party and the Popular Current were among about ten parties who have signed the petition.

In a statement, the parties urged Sisi and the Egyptian government to adopt a position that honestly expresses the Egyptian people’s sympathy for the Palestinian casualties.

They also asked that the Rafah border, that leads into Gaza, be opened permanently and not just when there are attacks.
