An 80-year-old grandmother was assaulted by her grandson after she refused to provide finance for him to purchase drugs.
The 34 year old man has a history of theft and violence to wards his family. His mother previously registered a criminal case of theft against him after he stole pots from their home. Yesterday (Saturday), he turned violent after his mother & grandmother refused to hand over cash for him to purchase narcotics. He slapped his grandmother twice before he fled the property.
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a call for assistance at approximately 15:49. Reaction Officers were immediately dispatched to the residence in Redcliffe – KZN and on arrival, obtained a clothing description of the male. Officers set out in search and apprehended him at the entrance of Oaklands – KZN.
He was detained at the Verulam SAPS for the previously registered theft case….
