The Western Cape Provincial Commissioner , Lt Gen (Adv.) Thembisile Patekile commended members of Khayelitsha Tactical Response Team (TRT), and welcomed the arrest of a 38 year old constable, stationed at Maitland 10111 Call Centre who was found in possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition as well as drugs this morning.
He reiterated that offenders of the law have no place in the South African Police Service.
In an intelligence driven operation, police members of Khayelitsha Tactical Response Team (TRT) pursued information and proceeded to a residence in Mandela Park on Wednesday 09 October 2024. The targeted operation saw the forces descending on the property in Kumande Bali Street at around 06:10. Upon entering the premises they searched the occupant, and the premises, confiscating a 9mm pistol with ammunition and six ecstasy tablets which resulted in the detention of the 38 year old constable.
Once charged the suspect are expected to make a court appearance in the Khayelitsha Magistrate’s Court on the mentioned charges.
