The media in South Africa maintains double standards with news releases. Murder, rape and especially farm murders are almost neglected by the media, but once a foreign citizen is robbed, it gets front pages and main articles on the Internet news channels.
The latest incident in which Katie Price, an overseas actress, and her children were robbed near Chrissiesmeer, where she was attacked by three men and robbed of personal belongings shows this blatant disregard of farm attacks and murders.
She will now get armed guards to ensure her safety and continued filming of her TV series. South African victims of robbery and murder do not receive any special coverage.
