Two police officers arrested for robbery

Two police officers and two alleged accomplices were arrested in Krugersdorp on charges of business robbery.

Lieutenant Colonel Lungelo Dlamini, police spokesperson, said the officials, 26 and 41 years old, and their co-accused will appear on Tuesday in the Krugersdorp Magistrate’s Court.

According to Dlamini four suspects were arrested on Sunday August 2, 2015, after they allegedly wanted to rob a clothing store in the business district. The owners of the store were tied with cable ties and threatened with firearms.

Dlamini said the police officers’, both detectives, service pistols were seized. Dlamini said one of the other suspects is an employee of the store and related to one of the police officers.

Dlamini said internal action will be taken against the police officers.
