The Front National’s policies of self-determination based on the white westerner’s culture (worldview) and how it is to be accommodated within a multicultural state that is dominated by African culture.

What is culture – the basis of our policy? If you ask, ordinary people to define “culture” even the fundi of Afrikaans “cultural organizations” they will immediately tell you about Koeksisters biltong, rugby and folk. However, this is simply not the true culture. Koeksisters have absolutely nothing to do with culture. Dr AP Treurnicht on the occasion simply spelled out “If Afrikaners say grace at the table its tradition; if they still do so in Holland, it is culture.” What Treurnicht meant is that Koeksisters, rugby and folk have always been traditions, but it has very little to do with culture.

Culture is the disciplined standards within a nation’s traditions, ideas, worldviews, values, and norms that are communicated by parents, friends, and family in a child’s formative years. They determine our beliefs, aspirations, life, and even our dislikes.

Culture is also divided into two: the physical and the spiritual. The physical culture emerges in building styles (architecture) technology, implements, tools and clothing. Because the physical, however, requires very little thinking, it inclines more to tradition than that of culture (as Koeksisters).

The essence of culture is the spiritual (psychological). These core values are embedded within a customary culture, such as religion, beliefs, worldviews, striving for excellence and is expressed in a unique language (Afrikaans and English in our case). It flows from our Roman Dutch justice, monogamy, music tastes, visual and remarkable arts, our education and our general norms and ethics that guide our lives.

If FN argues that Western culture and Afrikaans culture within a unitary state is completely incompatible and impractical (and does cause conflict, as is happening in South Africa), we mean that individuals, families, peoples and racial cultures is determined through education, biological origin, and the impact of society on every one. It is then expressed by language (Afrikaans) to a philosophy of life and norms that some people characterize.

It is this view of life and norms (culture) that Afrikaans and Western countries refrain from vandalism, widespread corruption, toyi-toyi, polygamy, traditional massacres and sangomas. Not because our culture is better or greater, but because our culture is different because of our historical education and civilization.

The uncultured Afrikaner’s education and civilization over the past 22 years is affected by the African culture and that makes him or her just a “White skinned” person speaking Afrikaans. Anybody in the whole world can eat Koeksisters, boerewors and biltong, but nobody can eat it with as much zest as the Afrikaner.
