Home robbery in the vicinity of Northumberland Avenue, Kabega Park, Port Elizabeth on Sunday June 28, 2015. The time to gain entry into this home and get out was estimated at 3 minutes. The robbers only set the alarm off once inside. It could have taken them quite some time to break the Trellidor before entering and setting the alarm off. Nothing valuable was taken – all drawers and cupboards were opened and contents dropped all over. A white Opel Kadett with tinted windows was the vehicle used in this break in.

Trellidor South Africa responded to the post on Crime Awareness PE Facebook page re a Trellidor Product breached in a Home Robbery with the following statement:

“In response to this post re a Trellidor Product breached in a Home Robbery , we thank you for bringing this matter to our attention . This Incident has been logged into our internal investigation systems, the Homeowner has been contacted and an interim security solution has been installed until such time as the replacement unit has been re-manufactured. The product in question will be returned to our Head Office for a full analysis, but at this point the product appears to have been attacked with excessive force, and the 3 minute claim is under investigation , as the Homeowner refutes this. We believe that the attack took a lot longer than the stated 3 minutes, and would like to assure everyone we take any breach extremely seriously and we will be communicating our report directly with the homeowner.”

One way to prevent a security gate breach is by investing in outdoor beams as your first line of defence. You are warned before the intruders get near your home. Once they have passed that you are already waiting for them – and have already called your security company (or it has triggered in their control room).
