Robber shot and killed by elderly man in Pretoria

A suspected robber was killed in the north of Pretoria at the home of an elderly couple on Wednesday October 7, 2015 in the early morning hours.

Mirna von Benecke spokesperson of Sinoville police, told Maroela Media although not much information is known about the incident, preliminary investigation indicates that an unidentified man struck around 04:00 at the couple’s home in Annlin.

“The suspect allegedly stole a panga (machete) from the garage before the elderly woman saw him,” Von Benecke said.
The woman screamed for help and her husband fetched his gun.

“The suspect was apparently on his way to confront the woman, when he ran himself into the man. The man protected him and his wife and the suspect was fatally wounded.” He was declared dead at the scene.

Von Benecke said the suspect had no identification with him and his age is not known. The victims’ ages were also not known.

“The police are investigating an inquest and a case of robbery as stolen items were found in the man’s possession,” she added.
