House robbery suspects arrested in Sunningdale

On August 1, 2015 at around 18:20 Marshall Security Special Operations Team (SOT) members were parked off in an unmarked vehicle on the corner of The Curl and Sugar Farm Trail in Sunningdale when they spotted a suspicious red VW Polo.

The red polo matched the description of one of the vehicles being used for house robberies and house breaking. The suspects in the polo turned into a complex on Village Way and began to exit the vehicle, when they spotted the Marshall Security vehicle and fled down Village Way, a short chase ensued and the suspects, who were obviously not that familiar with the area, turned into Petal Close which is a dead end.

The suspects exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. One suspect was immediately arrested by SOT members and the other three fled through a complex in the road. The Marshall Security Reaction and SOT members chased the suspects and eventually arrested one of them as they were fleeing down the bank on the side of the N2 freeway from Ratoon Hill.

The Red polo was found to be hijacked in May in Montclair. The Vehicle also contained numerous house breaking implements including gloves and crowbars, ammunition was also found in the vehicle and a stolen TV which was found to have been taken in a housebreaking an hour before.

The two suspects and the stolen property was handed over to SAPS Durban North field unit and detectives for further investigations.

Well done to the members involved.
