Five panga-wielding robbers steal shoes

A Kagiso man woke up with five balaclava-wearing men, all armed with pangas, next to his bed – who then proceeded to steal six pairs of his shoes, police said on Thursday.

He woke up around 02:30 when he heard voices and saw the men around his bed, Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya said.

They threatened him and ordered him to keep quiet.

“The suspects took a plasma television, four pairs of Carvela shoes, two pairs of Adidas sneakers, bank and shopping cards as well as cash.”

They fled, leaving the man unhurt.

Sibiya said police arrested one of the alleged robbers on Wednesday, after following up on information from the robbery that happened on March 4.

Sibiya appealed to Kagiso residents to help police catch the other four.
