An attacker was shot dead at a Buffelspoort smallholding on Saturday July 18, 2015 just after 20:00.
The owner, Gielie du Toit suffered minor stab wounds and cuts.
His wife, Tina, went into hiding in a closet, where she grabbed a gun and shot dead an attacker. Two attackers are still at large.
“We are all okay. Thank God. I was in control and was hiding in my bedroom closet and got hold of my gun. I peered through the closet and saw how they forced my family on their knees and tied them with cable ties. One of the attackers walked to the closet with a knife and parted the clothes, and I realized it was now or never, thus when he saw me, I shot at him twice.
I could see the other two in the mirror, fleeing, and I went after them. Praise God my family is safe,” said Tina.
A big thank you for the quick response of all involved in the patrols and radio control of the SOS Mooinooi Rural Group.
According to Hannetjie Grobbelaar, admin for Mooinooi Community Policing Forum, SAPS Wonderkop arrived on the scene just before 22:00.
