Farm attack gone wrong for attacker
Farm attack in the Nylstroom region

On Sunday evening, April 12, 2015, Die Spoorsnyers were called to the scene of a farm attack in the Nylstroom region, near Hessie-se-water.

Mr. Helgard Botha (67) was attacked by an unknown black man with a shotgun.

The man pointed a gun at Mr. Botha, pulled the trigger, but the shotgun misfired. When Mr. Botha heard the clicking sound of the trigger, it gave him a chance to get to his gun. Mr. Botha wounded the man. The man threw down the shotgun and ran.

A trail of blood was left by the attacker while fleeing.

The shotgun was stolen last week in the Nylstroom area. This proves yet again, that stolen weapons are being used in the robbers’ continued attacks.

The (already difficult) scene (area) was unfortunately trampled and the blood trail was followed for about 100m into the mountain. A location was found where the man was sitting, presumably to bandage his wound, as no blood trail was found further on. He subsequently fled by jumping from large rock to large rock into the mountains.

“Let’s hope he lies where the wild animals can get him, if he isn’t arrested soon.”
