Elderly lady murdered by ‘contractor’

The bloodied body of Daphne Higgins (86) was found tied up in her bedroom on May 15, 2015 at 16:00, in Heemstede, a suburb of Belville.

She was found by the Bellville police after the Kraaifontein police discovered her abandoned car in Wallacedene, which led to further investigation.

According to Captain Fienie Nimb, a police spokesperson in Bellville, a 42-year-old suspect from Wallacedene was arrested on Monday. Possessions of the victim were found in the man’s house. The man was one of the two workers who worked on Daphne’s roof.

According to Nimb the suspect allegedly gained access to the house through the open roof, where he tied Daphne’s hands.

“She sustained fatal head injuries. The man allegedly stole valuables, left her body in the house, after which he had stolen her car.”
