Knysna, South Africa – An elderly lady was abducted from her home in Knysna Heights in the early morning hours of Wednesday, August 27, 2014.
The 68-year-old victim was also raped. Police arrested the suspect after he was found on someone’s property in Concordia.
According to Sergeant Chris Spies of Knysna SAPS, a man armed with a knife gained entry through a window into the victim’s house at approximately 05:30. He demanded access to the safe and money. He took jewellery and two cellphones before he tied the hands and feet of the victim’s husband and then forced the victim to her vehicle parked inside the couple’s garage.
He took the victim to a plantation area near Concordia where the suspect allegedly raped her and left her in her vehicle. According to Ashley Boëtius, media officer at Allsound Security, one of the company’s officers was patrolling the area when he noticed the severely traumatised lady sitting in her bakkie. He put his jacket around the victim for comfort and notified the police, who managed to arrest the suspect who was hiding in someone’s yard in Concordia…
