Dr. George Meyer (+/- 80) and his caretaker were attacked on April 16, 2015 on his farm in the Melkrivier area (near Vaalwater).
They were tied up and left for dead.
Col. Sakkie and his team, as well as Die Spoorsnyers were called. The scene was investigated for clues and incoming tracks were found. Unfortunately, it started to rain and the tracks were flooded.
There is, however, a suspect identified and the investigation team headed by Col. Sakkie, will follow up the lead.
There were two assailants and they left with a Toyota bakkie, cash and firearms.
We believe that one suspect is a local, and the other a Zimbabwian.
