At exactly 16:30 on Friday afternoon May 20, 1983 a powerful motorcar bomb exploded outside the SAAF Head Office on Church Street, Pretoria. The bomb was planted by Aboobaker Ismail of Umkhonto we Sizwe, the military wing of the ANC.
