Brave elderly woman open fire on armed farm attackers

The bravery of an elderly woman from Reddersburg probably saved her and her husband’s life when she opened fire on four armed men after they attacked her husband and demanded money.

Sgt. Ikobeng Hlubi, police spokesman said the couple, who operates a dairy farm in the Reddersburg district was attacked by the robbers Sunday morning on April 26, 2015 at 03:30.

According to Hlubi, the man was on his way to pick up his workers in Reddersburg when the attackers made their appearance and put a gun to his head.

The men took him inside the house where he told his wife not to come out.

The woman became suspicious and armed herself with a firearm.

She fired two shots after which the attackers fled empty handed.

The attackers are still at large.

Police are investigating a case of attempted robbery.
