Roodepoort, South Africa – A Peter Road resident (85) went outside to check on his barking dogs. Shortly thereafter, his wife discovered his body outside the garage where he had been beaten to death.
This, according to their neighbour Kriek Badenhorst, who added that the deceased had “locked his wife inside the house to protect her.”
Badenhorst explained that the area is usually very safe, and that neither his nor his neighbour’s homes had ever been broken into.
Honeydew spokesperson Warrant Officer Karen Jacobs confirmed that a case of murder has been opened, and is currently being investigated by the Honeydew Police.
“We were called out to a scene in the early morning hours on 25 July, and we discovered the body of an 85-year-old man.”
Jacobs said the man had wounds to his head, which he sustained from being hit with a pipe, but it’s still uncertain how many suspects attacked the man.
She added that his cellphone was the only item that was missing…
